This Camassia species will bloom later than the early-blooming Camassia scilloides.  Pair them together for weeks of Hyacinth blooms!

You can never have too many Camassia in a prairie, savanna or open woodland. They will grow well in a variety of soils, but prefer full to partial sun. After flowering in the spring, Camassia will go dormant for the rest of the year. The bloooming season can last for an entire month for a colony of plants. They are slow to establish from seed so you may considering transplants for landscape settings. The root system consists of a bulb with secondary fibrous roots. Camassia angusta can form offsets from these bulbs and form small colonies.

The flowers of Southern Wild Hyacinth attract both long-tongued bees and short-tongued bees and a variety of other insect pollinators.

Another name for Southern Wild Hyacinth is Prairie Camas.
